Eager followers jumping through phone
These guys look pretty eager to follow what you are posting

Have you been getting likes, comments and shares on your content, but not a lot of new followers ─ even when you promote? Before you completely change up what you’re doing, consider these simple tweaks.

1. Make sure your bio gives people a reason to follow.

Social media is built on value exchanges. If someone agrees to publicly identify themselves as a supporter of your brand, they expect to get something in exchange. Unless you’re a major celebrity or are a world-renowned company, they won’t just follow you because of who you are. For my creator account, I started seeing more followers when I changed “DJ/musician/video creator/photographer” to a more benefit-focused line, “Creator of music, video and images to help you escape.”

2. Next, make sure your content demonstrates this reason to follow.

Take a look at your profile page. Is your key benefit clear from the photos and videos shown there? Save the personal stuff for your private account if it doesn’t relate to your business. Here’s another personal example: My goal on social media is to promote my trance music videos. But I’m also a fan of comic-cons. My profile was a mix of my music videos and shots of cons. One day, I realized that people who are fans of trance music may not want to see cosplay pictures.  Once I focused on my main benefit, I started getting more followers.

3. Don’t over or under moderate.

People don’t like to be ignored. And with a few exceptions, people aren’t looking to follow an account so they can get into arguments. So, make sure comments on your posts don’t go unanswered and don’t add fire to the flamers by engaging in long fights.

4. Watch who else you follow and share.

People will usually not follow you if you support someone who offends them. Do a brand safety check before you follow another account or share their content. A quick search will usually reveal the bad actors. This is especially important in today’s politically charged environment. Political fringe groups are notorious for cutting together clips that make their leaders look like rational people.

Once you’ve done these things and are ready to become a follower magnet, you can reach out to 2113 Labs for ideas, strategy and content.
